Sheffield Archives
Collects, preserves and lists written and other records relating to Sheffield and South Yorkshire, and makes them available for reference and research. The records date from the 12th century to the present day and include: - business records, ecclesiastical records, family and estate records, local government records, local public records and records from individuals.
Annual Closure
An important reminder to all researchers that Sheffield Archives will be closed for two weeks from
17th - 28th November 2008
Staff will use this time to carry out essential cataloguing, searchroom and conservation tasks to ensure we continue to offer the best public service possible.
The service will reopen on
Monday 1st December at 10.00 am
Sheffield Local Studies Library
Has a collection of over 30,000 volumes including books, pamphlets, journals and reports on all aspects of the city's history and development and the lives of its people. In addition there are collections of newspapers, trade directories, census records, maps and other materials.
